Daughter of Hovey E and Luella Slayton, she was born in Manchester, NH 03/04/1905. The family lived at 1799 Elm St which today is Lambert's Funeral Home. Her father was a shoe manufacturer. The North End of Manchester where she was brought up was the 5th Avenue of Manchester.
She married to Ezekiel Albert Straw, Jr. September 18, 1924 and had an extended honeymoon in Europe.
They lived in a beautiful mansion on 308 River Road in Manchester, and Ezekiel was an investment banker, their marriage lasted 17 years until his death September 7, 1941.
It is unknown when she remarried Harold W. Smith, he is buried next to her in Pine Grove Cemetery, to her left and Ezekiel is to her right. This writer is leaving her name as Straw to keep the family connection together, it is noted under family links that she had the Smith marriage.
In 1971 she is living at 71 Thayer St. Manchester, NH with Mr. Smith who is retired.
Her brother Hovey E. Slayton, Jr. is also buried in the Straw lot with is wife Gladys. Gladys is a widow in 1971 living 48 North St. All the homes mentioned are within a mile radius of each other.
