PORTAGE COUNTY GAZETTE (Portage County, WI)
Milton "Bud" H. Abbott, 90, Wautoma, a town of Almond native and former Almond hardware store owner, died Sunday, July 14, 2002, at Berlin Memorial Hospital in Berlin.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Grace United Methodist Church in Wautoma, with the Rev. Dale R. Hanaman officiating. Burial will be in Spiritland Cemetery in the town of Almond.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Leikness Funeral Home in Wautoma and from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church until the services.
A memorial has been established.
Mr. Abbott was born May 25, 1912, in the town of Almond, a son of the late Homer E. and Pearl M. (Straw) Abbott.
He was married to Hildegarde "Hilda" Marie George on Feb. 20, 1932, in Rockford, Ill.
He worked as a welder at James Mfg. Co. in Fort Atkinson during World War II and later he and his wife operated Abbott's Hardware Store in Almond. He was an operator and foreman for Pagel Construction Co. in Almond, retiring after 34 years of service. After retiring, he owned Usta-Wuz Antiques in Almond.
He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 139 in Milwaukee and Grace United Methodist Church in Wautoma.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ronald (Betty), Fremont, and Robert (Betty), Plover; one daughter, Lola (Robert) Bestul, Viroqua; one sister, Vila Glaman, Wisconsin Rapids; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
He was also preceded in death by one infant brother, Eugene, and two great-grandchildren.
