Alexander Greer was likely born in England to as yet unknown parents. He married Harriet West on March 30th, 1824 in the Methodist Church in Shipton Township, Québec Province, a union that produced five children (John, William, Margaret, Thomas and Phebe) before Harriet's untimely death in early 1837. He soon remarried, to Mary Hall later that year on November 7th, 1837 in the Church of England in the town of Richmond in Québec Province. To this union were born six children (Harriet, Mary, Sarah, Horace, Alexander, Jr. and Lucy) before Alexander's own untimely death, likely in Shipton Township, where he is buried on the outskirts of Danville in Castlebar Cemetery.
