He served as pastor for a number of Congregational churches throughout New England, in Blackstone (MA), Bristol (NH), Farmington (ME), and Lynn (MA), before finally settling in Cliftondale, Mass., where he spent his final years. He was the author of a number of theological works, the most notable entitled "The Rational Basis of Orthodoxy," published in 1901.
