bullet  General Notes:

See wife's notes.

He was the seventh child of Moses and Elizabeth Foster, born in Andover, MA and named for his father's brother Ephraim. The family came to Pembroke prior to 1743 and at the time of his marriage he was living in Bow. There were at least 3 children from this marriage. (Carter's History of Pembroke)
According to "Carter", Ephraim & his wife had at least three(3) children, as follows: (1) Ann or Anne - [could have been named for her mother] (2) Daniel - [may have been named for Daniel Moor - could Ephraim have served under Capt. Daniel Moore?] (3) Moses [probably named for Grandfather Moses Foster]

"Carter" mentions that Ephraim Foster signed a petition as one of many who "lived on the banks of the Merrimack River, not all in Pembroke". (Provincial Records Vol IX, pp521-524)
In 1775, an Ephraim Foster is listed (along with brothers-in-law James, Ephraim, and John Moor) as a male resident of Bow over the age of 21 years who met with other male residents to examine the Association Test. In April of 1775 New Hampshire ruled that each male resident over 21 years of age must sign an Association Test stating that: "We the subscribers, do hereby solemnly engage, and promise that we will, to the utmost of our power, at the risque of our lives and fortunes, with arms, oppose the hostile proceedings of the British fleets and armies against the United American Colonies."
