Barre/Montpelier times Argus 2003 BRADFORD - Frank H. Brown Jr., 67, died July 21, 2003, at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. He was born Aug. 10, 1935, in South Strafford, the son of Frank H. and Marjorie A. (Sheldon) Brown. He attended school in Strafford and later Thetford Academy, where he graduated in 1954. Mr. Brown entered the U.S. Army in 1954, and served for two years. He married Phyllis M. Straw of Post Mills in 1959. They moved to Bradford in 1964, where they owned and operated the Browns-Plain Dairy Farm until 1985. He worked at the Bradford rest area and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in White River Junction until he retired in 1998 for health reasons. He was a member of the American Legion Post #20 in Bradford. He enjoyed sports, deer hunting, animals, vegetable gardening, playing golf and the Cleveland Indians baseball team. Survivors include his wife of Bradford; two daughters, Brenda Cook of Proctor and Melanie Black of Burlington; a brother Charles Brown of South Strafford; four sisters, Corabelle Ammel of Hartford, Barbara Sargent of Fairlee, Mary Lou Kelley of Brownsville and Rita DeGoosh of Fairlee and four grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Sawyer Cemetery in Bradford. The Rev. Charles Davignon will officiate. There are no public calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Medical Center, 215 North Main St., White River Junction, VT 05001. Boardway & Cilley Funeral Home in Chelsea is in charge of arrangements.
