Ruth Straw Hover, of Skaneateles, passed away June 29, 2009. Born July 10, 1913, in Providence, Rhode Island, she was predeceased by her husband, Ellis T. Hover. She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth H. Carnes, and her husband Paul of Granby, Connecticut, and Lois H. Kelly of Auburn, NY, and Michael Kelly of Auburn, New York. She leaves grandchildren Jennifer Carnes Kertanis and her husband Scott of Granby, Connecticut, Jonathan Carnes and his wife Kathleen of Sennett, NY, Tamson Kelly Noel and her husband Michael of Narberth, PA, and Tyler Kelly of Auburn, NY. She also leaves seven great-grandchildren, Ryan and Shane Kertanis, Zane, Kate and Ella Carnes, and Jacob and Emma Noel.
Ruth graduated from Northampton High School and Mount Auburn School of Nursing and did graduate work at the University of Massachusetts. During her nursing career, she held numerous public health positions.
She was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 4, in St. James Episcopal Church, Skaneateles.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. James Episcopal Church Altar Guild. Arrangements by Robert D. Gray Funeral Home, Skaneateles.
