bullet  General Notes:

Jeptha and Ann got their start in the lumber woods; Jeptha as teamster; Ann "kept shanty". Last job at Paradox,NY.Following this Jeptha and Ann lived then at The Gables (also referred to as The Davis Place) which was a farm located on Davis Road, off Valentine Pond Rd. Later they bought a farm in Horicon (where Alta Burns Bean resided until her death) on Al Bean Road off Pease Hill Rd on the back [north] side of the lake. It is where Arthur Ivan Moore and Mary Moore O'Connor were born.
Jeptha and Ann then moved to a farm house owned by the Untermeyers on the Rt 8 side of the lake. The Mr. Untemeyer was a lawyer from New York who owned a considerable amount of property in Brant lake and summered there. The farm, separate from the family home built right on the lake, was located on land across the highway. Its location is adjacent to where Sunset Mtn. Lodge is now.
Mary Moore O'Connor visited her grandparents there when she was age 6. The farm house is gone, replaced by a modern ranch house. ( Photo of farm house in papers of Jane Foster) After living here Jeptha and Ann moved to the Lambert Cottage (just east of BobGene log house) on the back side of the lake and then to the Bennett cottage nearby where both died. Ann died of complications of diabetes. Jeptha, a patient in July 1918 in the Albany Memorial Hospital (known then as Homeopathic Hospital) died the following month of Bright's Disease (chronic inflamation of the kidneys).
I have his work journal which I deciphered. He could neither read nor write and so his daughter Agnes kept it for him. It consists of work related items and contains many local names of interest.
Jeptha was a twin to Mabel who died in infancy.
