affadavit of Joe Tillilzki: 11 apr 1913
"That he is well acquainted with the facts surrounding the death of the late Charles N. Straw; that on Feb 17, 1913, he was present near Tongue River at the Baringer Ranch in Rosebud County, State of Montana about 5 O'clock PM and while in said locality saw the said Charles N. Straw attempt to cross said Tongue River, which then said river was in flood; that while sadi Charles N. Straw was so attempting to cross said river as aforesaid, he the said affiant saw the said decweased sink beneath the waters of Tongue River; that immediate thereafter and at frequent intervals since, affiant has made diligent search for the body of said Charles N. Straw but without success; that your affiant is convinced that said deceased never rose to the surface of said Tongue River and that sadi Charles N. Straw is in truth and verity dead."[His body must have been found as there is a "burial fee" for $44.00 in the estate papers; there is also a clause in the Administration Papers of the Estate to "....pay all expenses incident to the purchase and erection of a tombstone over the remains of the late C. N. Straw...." ]

" Edith married someone named Holscher, I believe, and they had two daughters, Sandy and Sue, and a son, who died a few years ago. Their mother, Edith, died about a year ago. There are the two sisters that were searching for their Straw roots, and I contacted them, and connected them with their Oregon roots.

Charles married Leala Jane Owens, daughter of F. C. Owens and Anna Parker, on 29 Jul 1911 in Miles City, Custer County, Montana. (Leala Jane Owens was born on 17 Nov 1891 in Newport, Arkansas and died in Jun 1974.)
