Lois Straw, 86, of Killeen, Texas, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2010, in a Copperas Cove nursing home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2010, at Gatesville Funeral Home Chapel, with Ministers George McCall and Deral McWhorter officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, Oct 24, at the funeral home. Lois was born in The Grove, Texas, to the late Clayburn Short and May Cox Short. Her family moved to Abilene when she was an infant where she attended school for a while before finishing school in Corpus Christi. She met and married James Eugene Straw in Corpus Christi. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Eugene Straw; and sons, Kenneth Wray Straw and Larry James Straw. She is survived by her son, Howard Straw and wife, Willie, of Belton; grandchildren, Jerome, Jennifer and Robbie; two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and other family members and many friends.

Lois married James Eugene Straw, son of Lee Otis Straw and Lou Annie Crownover, on 12 Sep 1940 in Corpus Christi, Nueces County, Texas. (James Eugene Straw was born on 10 Apr 1915 in Gatesville, Coryell County, Texas, died on 8 Jan 1973 in Kings Daughters Hospital; Temple, Texas and was buried in Restland Cemetery Gatesville, Coryell County, Texas, USA.). The cause of his death was myocardial infarct [heart attack].
