An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum," Thursday, June 27, 1991:
Charles Lee Straw of Gatesville died here Friday. He was 64.
Services were held Saturday at Scott's Funeral Home with Lloyd Hall officiating. Burial was in Restland Cemetery.
He was born November 17, 1926 in Coryell County, son of the late Lee and Anna Straw.
He was reared and educated in Coryell County, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He married the former Miss Ethel Dean Dyer September 17, 1948. She preceded him in death August 12, 1989.
He moved to Corpus Christi in 1949 where he owned and operated Straw's Shoe Service until his retirement in 1990. After his retirement he moved back to Gatesville.
He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Mr. Straw is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to one's favorite charity.
