Military Service: In the Civil War he was a Private serving with the Ohio 15th Regiment, Company G
Occupation: Before the War, Farmer -died in Civil War Dec 1864 and widow rec'd pension of *$ per mo and additional $2 each for her two children [Alice A. Straw and Charles R. Straw per month until their 16th Birthday. Alice until 28 Jan 1877 and Charles until 19 Oct 1879]

(per Sue Phaneuf)In 1840, a John Straw was there with his wife, 3 sons [b. ~1825, 1830, 1835] and 2 dtrs.
Elijah Straw was in Green Camp, OH in 1850.
In 1860, there is a William Strew, 31, married to an Elvina [ Melvina Lefever], with children Hermen [9], John [6] and Mary [5].
There is also a Robert Strew, 22, married to Sarah Ann Garrison [16] with 3 year old Mary. Robert & Sarah married Apr 05, 1860, so I don't think that little Mary is their child. After this, this family disappears from the census.
By 1870, William Strew is dead and Elvina is married to Aaron Markley [m. 9 Apr 1867]
These men - William, Robert & Elijah fit in the age brackets for the children of John Straw of the 1840 census.
Perhaps Cintipha Jane Straw is one of John's dtrs?

Robert married Sarah Jane Garrison, daughter of Charles Garrison and Susan Hoppwood, on 30 Apr 1860 in Marion County, Ohio. (Sarah Jane Garrison was born about 1844 in Ohio.)
