STRAW
A graveside service for Chester Straw, 88, of Cherokee, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Cherokee Municipal Cemetery. The Revs. Tom Cooksey and Gail Edmison will officiate. Arrangements are by Goodwin Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the funeral home today and Tuesday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
He was born Jan. 7, 1917, on a farm southwest of Ingersoll to Frank and Nancy Sallee Straw and died Saturday, July 16, 2005, at Cherokee Manor.
He attended school at Short Springs and farmed all his life. He married Vera Cunningham Nov. 7, 1968, in Malibu, Calif., and lived on the farm until moving to Cherokee ten years ago.
He is survived by his wife, Vera, of the home; two sisters, Beulah Brownson and Margie Puthuff, both of Enid; one brother, Frank Straw Jr. of Crescent City, Calif.; two stepsons, Randy Cunningham of Houston and Rick Cummingham of Alva; a stepdaughter, Vicki Hunter of Shawnee; and five stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a stepson and three sisters.

Chester married Vera on 7 Nov 1968 in Malibu, California. (Vera was born circa 1923 in Kansas.)
