BEULAH BROWNSON
Cherokee, OK. -- Funeral services for Beulah Brownson, 81, will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, August 21, 2005 at the Cherokee Friends Church with the Revs. John Havens and Gail Edmison officiating. Burial will be in the Cherokee Municipal Cemetery under the direction of the Goodwin Funeral Home of Cherokee. Visitation at the funeral home will be Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m.
She was born October 14, 1923 in Cherokee, OK. to Frank and Nancy Sallee Straw and died August 17, 2005 in Enid, OK.
She attended Short Springs Rural School. She worked for Dr. Dunnington before her marriage to Charles A. Brownson in Cherokee, OK. on September 15, 1940. Soon after their marriage he entered the military service and she lived with family members in Oklahoma and California until his discharge when they returned to Cherokee to establish their home.
She worked for various businesses in Cherokee. The most recent the Fashion Cottage where she worked until her retirement.
She was a member of the Cherokee Friends Church.
Surviving are one daughter, Nancy and her husband Ron Bliss of Enid, OK.; two sons, Frank Brownson of Midland, TX. and Charles Brownson of Joliet, IL.; five grandsons, Christopher Brownson of Joliet, IL., Craig Brownson and family of Houston, TX., Chuck Brownson of Houston, TX., Travis Bronson Bliss of Tulsa, OK., Theron J. Bliss of Tulsa, OK.; a granddaughter, Natalie Bliss of Stillwater, OK.; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Margie Puthuff of Enid, OK. and a brother, Frank Straw of Crescent City, CA.
She was preceded in death by her husband on January 27, 2004, three sisters, Betty Gannon, Lila Krob and Ruby Nutter and a brother Chester Straw.
Memorials may be given to the Cherokee Friends Church through Goodwin Funeral Home.
