RUBY M. NUTTER
Byron, OK. -- The funeral for Ruby M. Nutter, 84, was Fri. at Byron Christian Church with Vernie Hovorka officiating. Burial was in Byron-Amorita Cemetery, directed by Goodwin Funeral Home, Cherokee, OK. She died Apr. 7, 2003, at Cherokee Manor.
She was born May 27, 1918, near Short Springs to Frank and Nancy Sallee Straw. She attended school in Aline, OK. and Stella and won the spelling bee in the 1930-31 school year. She and Ted Nutter were married and lived in Byron. She worked as a cook at Cherokee Manor and was also postmaster in Byron. She moved to Cherokee Manor Feb. 7, 1998.
She was a member of Byron Christian Church and ABBD Senior Citizens.
She is survived by a son, Audrey of Byron, OK.; two sisters, Beulah Brownson of Cherokee, OK. and Margie Puthuff of Enid, OK.; two brothers, Chester Straw of Cherokee, OK. and Frank Straw of Crescent City, CA.
She was preceded in death by her husband and three sisters, Lila Krob, Betty Gannon and a sister who died as an infant.
