John m. first Zerviah Dow and then John had six children by his second wife Abigail Sherburn Springer (she was a widow of Jonathan Springer)..(per vital records of Haverhill Vol I pg 290 their names were Dorathy, Mary, Edward, John, Sherburn and John, the first John may have died young)
Per military records: John served in the first company of Haverhill militia in the spring of 1757. later he was a Private in the American Revolution, serving with his son of the same name in the 13th Regiment of MA Vols and marked "dead" on a list prepared pursuant to a resolve passed by the MA General Court on January 26, 1777. (He later died in Service 1778)
