ALICE LORRAINE GOODGE - age 96, of Knoxville, passed away Sunday morning, October 10, 2010 at Little Creek Sanitarium. She was a member of Grace Seventh Day Adventist Church and formerly of Little Creek Seventh Day Adventist Church. She and her husband, Leland Straw began their dream of Little Creek Seventh Day Adventist School in 1940. Alice taught English and Religious classes and numerous students in music as an accomplished pianist and organist. Alice is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leland and brothers, Bayard, Kenneth, Roger and Billy Goodge. She is survived by her devoted sons and daughters-in-law, Leland Sanford Straw, Jr. and Janet Straw and Kenneth Edward and Sharon Straw; grandchildren, Deborah (Dan) Grimes, Cynthia (Brian) Mitchell, Heidi Straw (Luiz) Camargo and Kristi Straw; great-grandchildren, Brandon Tait, Sheena Tait, Christina (Trent) Elmore, Amanda Mitchell, Dallas Mitchell and Nicholas Straw; loving sister, Sarah Ann Goodge McNeilus of the Little Creek community and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their great appreciation to the staff of Little Creek Sanitarium for their loving care to Alice. A celebration of Alice's life will be held 4:00 pm Saturday at Little Creek Seventh Day Adventist Church on the Little Creek Campus with Pastor Ron Woolsey officiating. Family and friends will meet 1:45 pm Friday at the main entrance to Highland Memorial Cemetery for a 2:00 pm graveside and interment service with Pastor David Brass officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Little Creek Sanitarium, 1811 Little Creek Lane, Knoxville, TN 37922. Online condolences may be sent to www.rosemortuary.com. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 pm Thursday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel.
