Betty Jane Chapin, age 80, of Clinton, died at her home on Tuesday, July 05, 2016.
Betty was born July 11, 1935 to Clark Lester Lewis, Sr. and Sarah 'Miller' Lewis of rural Clinton, MO. After graduating for Clinton High School, she married Jack Straw. Two children, Steven and Vernon Straw, were added to this union. Jack died shortly after the birth of his sons. Later, Betty married Ronald T. Chapin. She worked hard to be the best homemaker she could be. Betty attended the Methodist church, was a volunteer at the Ladies' Hospital Auxiliary and the Ladies' Association at the Clinton Country Club.
Survivors include her two sons, Steven Straw and Vernon Straw; a brother, Clark L. Lewis, Jr. and his wife Lois; nieces, nephews and several friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Jack Straw; her second husband, Ronald T. Chapin; and a sister, Emogene McLain.
A memorial service will be conducted at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Consalus Funeral Home, Clinton. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the G.V.M.H. Auxiliary and left in care of Consalus Funeral Home, 209 S. 2nd St., Clinton, MO 64735.
