Nancy was born in Barrington, New Hampshire in 1776 to Dudley Davis (abt. 1748 - 1822) and Mary "Polly" Straw Davis (abt. 1750 -1820). Dudley enlisted in the local militia but deserted in 1777 and moved to Vermont, which was then neutral. He later moved his family to Stanstead, Quebec. Nancy's brother, Dudley, Jr. (b. 1770) fought on the side of the British in the War of 1812.
Nancy married Daniel Mansur on March 6, 1798 in Methuen, Essex County, MA. They first lived in Vermont, where first daughter Lois was born, and then removed to Stanstead in 1801. See husband Daniel's memorial for a list of their seven children.
