FUNERAL SERVICES HELD MONDAY
Mrs. George Haugh, 90 of New Hampton died at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 25, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Death was attributed to a heart condition and complications of advanced age. She had been ill about eight days after suffering a heart attach.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, February 29, at The Perry Funeral Chapel, with Rev. William J. Smith pastor of the Baptist Church, officiating.
Mrs. Harold Koons and Mrs. Pierce Uglum sang "The Lord is My Shepherd" and "Abide With Me, accompanied by Mrs. Paul Hassman. Mrs. Harry Cutsforth had charge of flowers.
Interment was in Graceland Cemetery with Julius Timm, Ray Underwood, John Utley, Earl Katz, Claude Underwood and Paul Hassman as pallbearers.
The wake was held Sunday evening at Perry Chapel. Perry Funeral Services had charge of arrangements.
Paulina Rosetta Werner was born to Charles J. and Sarah Ann Werner August 28, 1869, six miles southeast of New Hampton, in a log cabin. She was a lifelong resident of the New Hampton vicinity. She received her education during 1869 to 1880 in what schools here were at that time. To the younger generation, she was known as the "Little old lady with the ribbon in her hair." In the winter, she would wear a ribbon in her hair while in the summer she would wear a flower.
On November 24, 1892, she was united in marriage to George Washington Haugh, by the Methodist minister in the house west of the present Sunnyside Grocery. They moved to the Spears farm after their marriage and resided there until 1895 when they moved to New Hampton. They became the parents of two children.
Surviving is one son, Clarence C. Haugh of New Hampton; seven grandchildren, Roy Haugh, Donald Haugh, Richard Haugh, Robert Haugh, Mrs. Janice Sudhop, Mrs. Joe MacKumal and Donna Mae Haugh. 12 great-grandchildren: three sisters, Mrs. Nora Sweet of Staples, Minn, and Mrs. Velva Carter of Florissant, Mo., and Mrs. Mildred Drewelow of Rochford; and one brother, Clayton C. Werner of New Hampton.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband on May 11, 1959; one daughter Emma May on November 10, 1902; seven brothers, Frank, Chares, Joseph, Harvey, Clay, Ernest and George; and one sister, Elisabeth.
