Sally Straw Bogart, 81, of Ottawa Hills Ohio, died December 30, 2010 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was the third child of Ezekiel Albert Straw and Virginia Slayton born in Manchester, N.H. She graduated from the Dana Hall School in Wellesley Massachusetts, the Garland School in Boston Massachusetts and Katherine Gibbs School in Boston Massachusetts. She then worked for Professor William White of the Harvard Business School and at the White Weld brokerage firm in Boston Massachusetts before marrying Robert E. Bogart and moving to Toledo. Sallys husband Robert was a purple heart recipient in WW II and, despite his extensive wounds, Sally and he lived to have a full life, five (5) children and twelve (12) grandchildren. Robert died in 1999. Sally was an avid birder, golfer, tennis player and a member of the Toledo Country Club, the Toledo Museum of Art, a Museum docent, a member of the Toledo Symphony, the Junior League and the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of Ohio. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Bogart, Wilmette Illinois; son, Robert E. Bogart, Jr. (wife Beth), Harbor Springs Michigan; daughter Nancy Richardson (husband Mike), Geneva Illinois; son Steven S. Bogart (wife Debbie), Ottawa Hills Ohio; son Gregory S. Bogart of Hartford Wisconsin; grandchildren, Michael and Sara ORourke; Katie and Erin Bogart; Ellen, Nathan and Seth Richardson; Clare, Benjamin and Lucy Bogart; Tyler and Bethany Bogart; sister Pollie S. Thayer; sister in law Margaret Straw; and brother in law Homer G. Bogart. A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. January 24, 2011 in St. Michaels in the Hills Episcopal Church, 4718 Brittany Road, Ottawa Hills. Friends are invited to attend and visitation and light refreshments will immediately follow the service at St. Michaels.
