SALEM - Wayne A. Straw passed away January 27, 2007, at the age of 87. He was born in Salem, Oregon on November 27, 1919, to Vernie A. and Edna (Starr) Straw. Wayne married Elsie Severson on July 31, 1943, in Seattle, Washington. They were married for 50 years, until her death in September 1993. Wayne worked at Boeing Aircraft Company until 1945 when he was inducted into the U.S. Army after the war. Returning to Oregon, Wayne worked for Oregon's Public Utilities Commission for 34 years. He married Lois Jerrett on July 23, 1995, in Cottage Grove, Oregon. They were married until her death in October 1997. Wayne loved gardening and sharing his flowers and produce with family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends-especially the great-grandchildren. Hunting and fishing were other passions. Wayne was a member of the Salem Elks Club and R.V. Club. He enjoyed traveling and spent many years snowbirding in Arizona.He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, and sister, Nadeen Martsfield. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Barbara Straw; grandchildren; Gregory Straw, Kristi Martini, Douglas Straw; and eight great-grandchildren.A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Howell, Edwards Funeral home on Wednesday, February 7, at 1:30 p.m.Arrangements are with Howell-Edwards-Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors.

Wayne married Elsie May Seversen, daughter of Karl A. Seversen and Clara, on 31 Jul 1943 in Seattle, King County, Washington. (Elsie May Seversen was born on 15 Aug 1921 in Lake Preston, South Dakota, died on 4 Sep 1993 in Keizer, Marion County, Oregon and was buried in Restlawn Memory Gardens in West Salem, Polk County, Oregon.)
