bullet  General Notes:

aka Agnes Bollard; she was of Bollardstown, Sound Island

Recollections of A.F. O'Connor:
"My grandmother Agnes was a kind of village doctor in the absence of a licensed one. It was she who delivered the babies, set the broken bones, administered the potions and even did a bit of "sewing." (suturing)
One day I was playing on the docks and got my hand caught between the pier and a swaying vessel. The flesh on my thumb and fore finger was laid open to quite an extent. My grandmother quickly took thread and needle from her sewing basket and with the skill of a plastic surgeon brought the tissue edges back together again. (MY NOTE: I could not find any evidence of a scar after all these years). She died just before I made my First Communion..I was about 9 at the time." [He could have been almost 7 at the time and it would mean she died c1913]
