Testimony of Jacob Straw of Newbury, Merrimack county,NH [brother in law] age 79 years 11 Aug 1838
"I was well acquainted with Moses Chase late of Springfield...county of Windsor...state of Vermont deceased and Polly his wife now his widow and that said Polly is my sister...Moses Chase and Polly Straw were married in Hopkinton by Rev. Jacob Rice of Henniker, NH on the eighth day of January [1799]. that I was present when said amrraige was solemnized...at the time ...said Moses Chase was a resident of and owned land at Unity, NH where he moved his wife soon after their marriage and lived several years, that he moved his family from Unity to said Springfield where he lived till his death and where his widow the sadi Polly now lives."
War Service -Enlisted 1 June 1780 for 10 mos 14 days as a Private; res Hopkinton, NH and served under Capt Ebenezer Frye, Col Cilly, Capt Monroe Barron, Col Cortland, Col? Lafayette
