There is descreptancy as to whom his biological mother was. A 1905"copied" record by the Clerk at Hopkinton, NH is attached indicating his mother was "Bettsy."
There is no source listed on the copied birth certificate [dated 1905] to confirm this. Other sources state his biological mother was Martha Gould. Until I find the original documentation I will leave his mother as Martha, whom his great daughter lists as his mother.

He served throughout the war of the American Revolution and his name appears on the lists of men detailed for several important operations.

The following letter was written to Ezekiel from his wife "Betty" Salisbury, NH Sept. 7th Ye. 1803 Dear and loving husband it is with regret and Sorrow I inform you the circumstances of our family. I have experienced many troubles since your absence and every day brings new trials to my mind.The Lord has visited us with sickness, Jesse was taken sick the last day of August with the disentery and died the sixth of September. After he was taken he said to us one night. He wondered Sir did not come home and see him. My self and Rachel and Samuel and Anna are sick with the same disorder. My trouble is very great. Time will not admit to write every particular I want to have you come home as soon as possible and see us. I remain your loving wife until death. Betty Straw P.S. since the date of this letter we have lost three Sally's child and Rachel and Samuel.
