Memorial services for Richard R. Straw of Yamhill will be held at a later date at his home. Arrangements are being handled by Macy & Son Funeral Directors.
Mr. Straw died of natural causes Saturday, April 14, 2007, at the Willamette Valley Medical Center in McMinnville. He was 50.
Born in Salem on Nov. 4, 1956, he was the son of Lawrence Ray and Darleen Virginia Straw. After graduating from Sprague High School, he went to work for Norpac, a growers' co-op with canning operations in Marion County.
He married Jeannette Michaelis on Nov. 27, 1982, in McMinnville. They continued to live in Salem until 2000, when they moved to Yamhill.
He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in McMinnville. His hobbies included vegetable gardening, coin collecting, rock collecting and fishing.
"He enjoyed being around family and friends," the family said.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Straw is survived by two sons, Tyler and Kory of Yamhill; his father and mother in Aumsville; a brother, David of Aumsville; and two sisters, Patti Bridges of Antioch, Calif., and Debbie Needles of Kempner, Texas.
