Reuben was the first-born of Edmund and Sarah (Brown) Barnard, and grandson of Capt. Tristram Barnard. He married Huldah Eaton in Weare on July 12, 1807. She was the daughter of Samuel and Hannah (Worthen) Eaton. They had at least 9 children.
