John PHILLIPPI, 69, La Rue Farmer, Dies The Marion Star, Monday, April 30, 1928 Funeral Services Tuesday Afternoon at Baptist Church; Burial in LaRue Cemetary LaRue, April 30-John PHILLIPPI, 69, died at 5:15 o'clock Sunday afternoon at his home here. Death followed a two weeks illness of heart trouble. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Baptist Church,Rev. Raymond Merritt officiating. Interment will be made in the LaRue Cemetary. Mr. PHILLIPPI was born Dec. 23, 1858 in Richland Township, the son of Nicholas and Henrietta PHILLIPPI. His marriage to Miss Lola MYERS took place in Marion in 1885. Surviving with the widow are the following children: J.L. PHILLIPPI, of Kenton; Mrs Laura STRAW, Mrs Ernest STONER, and Frank PHILLIPPI, of LaRue; Walter PHILLIPPi, of Marion; Mrs Ida BILGER, of Bucyrus; Misses Pauline and Leola PHILLIPPI, at home. A son Clarence PHILLIPPI, was the first soldier in Marion County to be killed in service in the World War. Two sisters, Mrs Katie FETTER, of Caledonia, and Mrs. Minnie BURNS, of Iowa, and 18 grandchildren, also survive. Mr. PHILLIPPI resided in Marion County all his life and followed occupation of a farmer.
