She was also a schoolteacher and married Horace Chandler. They met while taking classes at Ohio Normal (Northern) University. They had four children although one - Mildred Irene died when she was nine years old. The other children, Joyce Marie Chandler – married William Lorenz; Eugene Chandler – married Margaret Gottfried; and Wanda Lee Chandler - married Eugene Fulscher. It is interesting that Horace had four sisters all of whom were teachers and attended Ohio Normal University (now known as Ohio Northern University) at Ada Ohio. Horace was a farmer and they lived in Marseilles all their lives and both are buried in the Chandler Cemetery in Marseilles. Part of the Chandler farm and the home was purchased by the state and is part of the Killdere Plains Wildlife Preserve.
