VAN WERT -- Madge F. Patterson, 90, of 02064 Behnfeldt Road, Bryan, Farmer Township, Defiance County, died at 6:40 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, 2001, at Harborside Nursing Home, Bryan.
Born Feb. 2, 1911, in Van Wert County, a daughter of the late Loren Russell and Nancy A. Brown Straw. She was a high school teacher at Ohio City-Liberty for eight years, then at Jefferson High School, Dresden, Roseville and Philo for more than 40 years, retiring in 1972. She was a 1928 graduate of Ohio-City Liberty High School and a 1932 graduate of Ohio State University.
Surviving are a sister, Dr. Constance M. Dumas of Wildwood, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James F. Patterson, whom she married Aug. 17, 1954, who died in 1988; three brothers, Eugene Dailey Straw, Richard Rex "Jay" Straw and Donald Lake Straw; and a sister, Ethel Guthrie.
No calling hours will be observed.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Woodlawn Cemetery, Ohio City, with Pastor Michael Waldron of Ohio City United Methodist Church officiating.
Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Harborside Nursing Home.
