He was of Hanover, N.H., late a successful farmer and a prominent citizen, who represented his town in the legislature. They had three children, two of whom are living.

Elijah married Betsey Moore, daughter of Hiram Moore and Ruby Silloway. (Betsey Moore was born in 1833 in Lincoln, Vermont and died in 1894.)
