Wm married first Mehitable Hoyt and had a daughter Dorothy and two sons, William Jr and John. Mehitable died and he married for a second time and had two more sons named Samuel and Lawrence/Laurence. Ellen is descended down through the Samuel line. William 1 was her great-great-great-great grandfather.

They had at least one ch, a son Albert W. Thompson b 16 Feb 1874 in E. Somerville MA, who m. 6 Oct 1898 in Lowell MA to Hildreth Nesmith, age 22 dau of Thomas & Florence (Hildreth) Nesmith. She was. b. 23 Sep 1876 in Lowell MA and d. after Sept 1918.

Thompson, agent for the Manchester Print works, and Miss Nellie Straw youngest daughter of Gov straw of New Hampshire took place at Manchester on Thursday. the rece;ption was a very brilliant affair and was attended by many distinguished people from various parts of the state.
