Karl Neuhaus was of "Sidenbuch, Hessen, Germany" in 1837 when his daughter, Theodora, was born. He and his family immigrated from Germany to Crawford Co., OH in 1845. They resided a short time in Mansfield, Richland Co., OH. In the spring of 1846, he purchased a farm near the site of the Windfall Church in nearby Crawford Co. and was a pioneer of that vacinity.

According to the transcribed Bible registry of Samuel (Jüsi) Eusey:
"Karl Wilhelm Arnold Neuhaus was born the 6th of Nov. 1792. Baptized the 16th Nov. 1792."
"Karl Neuhaus died the 18th of June 1871. His age was 77 years, 4 months, 12 days."

According to cemetery inscriptions of Crawford Co.:
"Charles William Arnold Newhouse" died "13 June 1871", aged "78 years, 7 months, 8 days".

The obituary of his daughter, Theodora "Dora" Johanna Newhouse, states she was born in "Sidenbuch, Hessen, Germany"; census information indicates she and her brothers were born in "H. Darmstadt".

Charles married Anna Rosina Wolff in Sidenbuch, Hessen, Prussia. (Anna Rosina Wolff was born on 29 Apr 1805 in Sidenbuch, Hessen, Prussia, died on 20 Oct 1867 in North Robinson, Crawford County, Ohio and was buried in Windfall Cemetery, Jefferson Twp., Crawford Co., OH, lot 12.)
