Kriz, Ellen 89 July 05, 1922 Dec. 11, 2011 Ellen Kriz, a descendant of Oregon pioneers, was born on July 5, 1922, to Bertha (Straw) and Virgil Haller in Woodburn. They moved to Portland when she was a child where she graduated from Grant High School in 1939. She attended Oregon State Agricultural College (OSU) graduating in 1943 with a major in science. She married Howard Kriz that year. She is survived by Kathy (Gary) Hamlet of Madras; Joe (Althea) Kriz of Newberg; Jack (Paula) Kriz of Newberg; Jim (Julie) Kriz of Grants Pass; and daughter-in-law, Susie Kriz. Survivors also include grandchildren, Tony (Aimee) Kriz, Aimee (Clint) Hardesty, Tim (Jessica) Hamlet, Sara Hamlet, Holly (Corey) Anderson, Adrian (Peg) Kriz, Wesley Kriz, Mason Kriz and Delany Kriz; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Skip. Memorial service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at the Newberg United Methodist Church. Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Newberg United Methodist Church or the Nature Conservatory.
