Walter Leroy Straw 4-20-1915 Preston, Kansas. Died 2-23-1971 Douglass, Kansas. He married Kay Beley. They had Jim, Andy,Margaret,Wayne and Betty, they are all alive so no dates will be posted.

STRAW, WALTER L.The recent snow storm claimed the life of a Douglass man who suffered a heart attack Tuesday at his home while shoveling snow.
Funeral services for Walter L. straw, 55, will be conducted at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the Baptist Church of Douglass. Mr. Allen Jones will officiate. Interment will be in the Douglass Cemetery, with Hilyard Funeral Home in charge.
He was born April 20, 1915 in Preston, the son of Andrew and Eva Straw.
During World War II he served in Alaska. On April 14, 1944 he was married to Katharine Veley in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She survives in the home.
Also surviving are three sons, James of Clarksville, Tenn., Spec./4 Wayne Stray stationed in Vietnam and Andrew of Wichita; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Haas of Douglass and Miss Betty Straw of Littleton, Colo, and two grandchildren.
Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Eva Straw of Pratt, a brother, Orville of Hope, Ark., and three sisers, Mrs. Mary Mitchell of Pawhuska, Okla., Mrs. Gail White of Big Cabin, Okla. And Mrs. Bonita Ballard of Alsea, Ore.
Mr. Straw was a member of the Baptist church and AF and AM 151 of Douglass; a past patron of Woodbine Chapter 95, OES; Wichita Consistory, Midian Shrine of Wichita, York Rite of Winfield and VFW of Derby. (El Dorado Times, February 25, 1971) [genealogytrails.com/kan/butler/obitsmixed139.html]
