He came early to Sudbury Canada where he helped shape the politics of the new town. At one point he and his wife were the only two members of the Baptist church. Church meetings were held at their house.
After marriage, they came from Bridgton to Bethel (Sudbury Canada), and settled on the south side of the Androscoggin river.
Asa married Phebe Foster. (Phebe Foster was born on 24 Sep 1769 in Bridgton, Cumberland, ME, died on 11 Oct 1858 in Bethel, Oxford County, Maine and was buried in East Bethel Cemetery lot 72.)
