Daily Plainsman, The | Huron, South Dakota | Sunday, September 17, 1967 Mrs. Monson, 89, Dies Saturday; Funeral Tuesday Plainsman CSD News Serrlce REDFIELD - Mrs. Sarah (Sadie) Monson, 89, resident of Redfield for 57 years and earlyday co-owner of Stewart's Orchestra, died Saturday at Redfield Community Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Congregational Church with the Rev. Paul Opsahl officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Coleman Funeral Home and at the church prior to the service,but not afterward. Sarah Straw was born Sept.5, 1878, at Mattawan, Mich. She married Edwin K. Stewart in 1897 and they moved to Redfield in 1910. She and her husband conducted Stewart's Dance Orchestra. Her husband died in about 1915. She married Ole Monson in 1921. Following his death in 1965 she resided at the Eastern Star Home. Mrs. Monson was a member of the Congregational Church, past worthy matron of the Redfield Eastern Star of which she was a 60-year member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary. A nephew, George Straw of Saginaw, Mich., survives. In addition to her husbands she was preceded in death by two children in infancy.
