"The 1894 Bio of C. W. Cotton is interesting; especially since it does not mention his first wife Amanda at all. This C. W. was brother to my great, great grandfather, Newton. The Garfield Cemetery records verify that Charles E. Cotton's stone does say "son of C.W. and Amanda Cotton". C. W. and Amanda were married in June of 1850. The three of us have agreed that the birth date for Charles E. must be 1851 since neither C. W. nor Amanda could have produced a child in 1831. So the dates for Charles E now stand as b. 21 JUN 1851 d. 8 SEP 1851. "
