Robert Eugene Burton was born June 23, 1930 in Garland, Missouri the son of Ellsworth (Jack) Burton and Orel Snow Harvey Burton. He took his faith in God at a very early age. Bob was united in marriage June 5, 1954 to Carol Ann Straw Burton. They were married for 57 years. To this union two children were born, Jackie and Randy. Bob leaves behind two grandchildren, Kendra and Seth.
He went to Garland School and then went to work for Crow Coal Mine setting up the shovel. He later went to work for Peabody Coal Company and was oiler on the shovel and then became the shovel operator. In 1972 he took a company job for Peabody as Master Mechanic.
Bob and Carol moved to Columbia, Missouri 1966. In 1985 Bob went to Rockdale, Texas as a consultant for Peabody Coal at Alcoa Aluminum. He retired in 1991 with 40 years of service with Peabody. They later moved to Lake Montezuma, Arizona in 1996.
In 2009 they moved to Peoria, Arizona to be near their daughter Jackie and husband, Wade.
Bob loved horses and was quite good at training them. He had two horses Maggie and Trexie he dearly loved young in life.
His hobbies were hunting, fishing, and playing golf. Bob was very gifted, he did wood working and made beautiful things in his work shop after he retired. After losing his arm in a car accident in 2002 he still found ways to make things. He was a genius when it came to things he made for himself to use with only one arm.
Bob was a mason, he also was a Charter member of the Columbia Sportsman Club, in Columbia, Missouri. He helped build the dam for the lake. A lot of happy memories were made there with his wife and kids.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack Burton and Orel Harvey Burton; his wife, Carol Ann Burton Straw, 4 brothers, Jack, Howard, Donald, and Kay, and sister, Barbara Burton Barnhart, and a granddaughter, Whitney Nicole Burton-Prange.
He leaves his daughter, Jacqueline Jo Burton-Watson and husband, Wade Watson of Peoria, Arizona, son, Randall Eugene Burton and wife, Deanna of Flagstaff, Arizona, two grandchildren, Kendra Burton-McGuire and husband, Aaron, and Seth Burton both of Flagstaff, Arizona. Also surviving are his sister, Geraldine Burton Anstine of Blairstown, Missouri, and brother, Harvey Burton of Ventura, California, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Bob lost his life to cancer. He was a very strong man and fought hard until the end. He will be missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the McLane Chapel in Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 11:00-12:00 P.M. before the service. Private family inurnment will follow.
Services are under the direction of Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, Missouri.

Robert married Carol Anne Straw, daughter of Willis Alva Straw and Kathryn Verlene Cogle, on 5 Jun 1954. (Carol Anne Straw was born on 19 Aug 1936 in Clinton, Henry County, Missouri, USA, died on 23 Nov 2011 in Peoria, Maricopa County, Arizona, USA and was buried in Englewood Cemetery in Clinton Missouri.)
