[Research of June Straw Wittman and mailed to me Feb 2006] FORSYTH TIMES JOURNAL 3 November 1927 Pioneer Woman Dies Following Week's Illness. Funeral Services for Mrs. Hayden conducted Saturday from Methodist Church by Rev. Whitford. Resident of this county for almost half century. With the passing of Mrs. N. Hayden early Friday morning, the ranks of the Montana Pionerrs was again depleted. Mrs. Hayden had been a resident of this county for almost half a century. She had been ill for only a week. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Methodist church, the Rev. Fred Whitford officiated. Interment was made in the local cemetery. Mrs. Hayden is survivied by her husband, Nathaniel Hayden and her daughter Mrs. J. W. Straw, both of Forsyth, by six grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Four of the grandchildren were present for the funeral services. Mrs. Hayden was born 24 July 1855 at Council Bluffs, Iowa and until her marriage was Cordelia Clough. In 1877 the family came west to Boulder, Colorado, where a year later she was married to Nathaniel Hayden. Two years later, Mr and Mrs Hayden moved to the Black Hills in the Dakotas where they remained until 1881, when they came to Montana and settled on the Rosebud Creek in this county. Mrs. Hayden had made her home there and in Forsyth since that time. Mrs. Hayden was a member of the Eastern Montana Pioneer's Association. also: In a biographical sketch of her husband Nathaniel Hayden it states ..."In 1878 Mr. Hayden married Mrs. Cordelia Hayes who was born near Council Bluffs, Iowa..."
