Howard Straw died on January 16 at HospiceCare in Madison. He was born on April 6, 1917, in West Allis, to Paul and Marie Straw. He was proud to have worked during WWII making turbochargers for the P-38 at Supercharger in Milwaukee, where his work contributed to success in the air combat effort. Howard married the love of his life, Dorothea Rathke, in June of 1941. Howard was an avid outdoors person, passing on his passions to his family over the years. He was a skilled gardener, photographer, woodworker and carver. Howie also found great joy in bird-watching, camping, campfires, star-gazing, hiking, identifying trees and wildflowers, rock-polishing, wine-making, music and singing, travel, food and wine, and especially in people and conversation. Baseball was one of Howard's great loves, and he never missed a Brewers game. He will always be in nature for his friends and family--in the stars, the sunsets, the northern lights, the great blue heron, and he will be greatly and forever missed. Howard lost his best friend and beloved life partner, Dorothea, in 2000. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother Harold, brother Burton and Sister Lorraine (Rausch). He is survived by his son, Jeffrey (Iris) of CA; James (Barbara) of Kiel; daughters Gail (Donald Catalano) of Burlington, VT, and Jeanne (Jan Fournier) of Madison; grandchildren Denise (Sam) Little, Pamela (Dan Matuschka) Danen, Paul (Sharron), Jennifer and Adriana Catalano, and Sophie Fournier; and great-grandchildren Joy Stevens, Lee Jarvis, and Lauren and Lindsay Danen. A private memorial service will be held. The Sheboygan Press Burial: Unknown Created by: Louise D Record added: Jan 29, 2009 Find A Grave Memorial# 33367106
