Research of James W. Straw - He and his wife had 6 children in Kentucky and 5 in Missouri.
research of M. Porter on www.rootsweb.com: Gabriel George, son of Parnick, married in Virginia but died in Harrison County, Kentucky in 1826. His son, William N. George, was born in Kentucky and fought in the War of 1812. He was a volunteer in an infantry company attached to the 13th Regiment of the Kentucky Militia. He survived the massacre of the regiment on the west bank of the Maumee River opposite Fort Meigs (Ohio), known as Dudley’s defeat. He married Susan Ann Keith in Harrison County, Kentucky but moved west to Boone County, Missouri between 1828 and 1832. He and his wife had 6 children in Kentucky and 5 in Missouri. William N. George was a successful farmer in Columbia, Missouri in the mid-1800s. He was reputed to be the best timothy grass producer in Boone County. In 1839 he pledged $150 to support the campaign to bring the University of Missouri to Columbia About 30 years later the university became Missouri’s land grant college with the signing of the Morrill Act by President Lincoln. On his death William left his wife, Sarah an estate worth thousands of dollars including 245 acres of land, 1 ox, 11 cattle, 40 sheep, 7 horses, one log of tobacco and 5 slaves. In October 1999 I visited the campus in Columbia and saw his signature in the pledge book kept in the campus archives. Relatives, who remain in the Columbia area gave me a tour of family landmarks including the former site of the farm (now a Columbia subdivision) and Fairview Cemetery where his remains were placed.
William married Sarah Ann Keith, daughter of Richard Keith and Susan Mason. (Sarah Ann Keith was born in 1797 in Harrison County, KY and died on 17 Aug 1886 in Columbia, MO.)
