The funeral of Archie Madison Brown, 97 was held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 1986 at the Christian Church in Oregon, Missouri.
Mr. Brown was born March 23, 1889, in Barnett, Missouri, to Henry Harrison Brown and Alvena Lenora (Brown) Brown. He died Monday evening, May 19, 1986, at a hospital in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. He had been there one day. Prior to his admission he had been living in a nursing home.
He moved to Forest City, Missouri in 1930 from Kansas and worked as Cashier of the First State Bank in Forest City. He moved to Oregon, Missouri, in 1946 and was President of the Citizens Bank of Oregon, Missouri, and also served as Chairman of the Board and was a board member at the time of his death.
He was a veteran of World War I. He was a member of the Christian Church in Oregon, Missouri, the Oregon Missouri Masonic Lodge, the York Rite in Wichita, Kansas, and of the American Legion Post in Oregon.
He is survived by one brother, Otis E. Brown of Jefferson City, Missouri, two nephews, Tom Brown of Excelsior Springs, Missouri and Jean Brown of Marshall, Missouri.
Services were conducted by Ron Thomure. Entombment in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Oregon, Missouri under the direction of Pettijohn & Eiser Funeral Home of Oregon, Missouri.
Archie married Pearle Thomas, daughter of Matison Bruce Thomas and Anna E. Blair, on 19 Jan 1952 in Benton, Saline County, Arkansas. (Pearle Thomas was born on 15 Apr 1890 in Texas, died on 17 Jul 1965 and was buried in Mount Hope Cemetery Mound City, Holt County, Missouri, USA.)
