Services for Mrs. Sarah Sylvia Hall, 79, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, at the Pettijohn & Crawford Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Brown as the officiating minister.
Interment was in the New Liberty Cemetery, north of Mound City.
Mrs. Hall was born to Rosa and John G. Fries on Jun 28, 1889. She attended the Spring Valley School near the farm home in Atchison County, and later attended Maryville State Teachers College. She then taught at Ross Grove and at a rural school near Oregon.
Early in life she developed a deep love for music, for flowers and for children and these remained her basic interests.
In 1916, she was married to Willard F. Hall, and immediately went to live on a pioneer homestead near Stanford, Montana. In 1932, she returned to Mound City and has made her home here since that time.
During the years of World War II she attended school in California, where she took special training in the care of children. She then devoted several years to nursing at the Children's Hospital in Los Angeles.
She became a member of the Methodist church in her early life. She was also a member and enjoyed the activities of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Hall was an invalid the past several years. She died in her sleep apparently without suffering early the morning of Jan. 12, at a nursing home in Rock Port, Mo.
She is survived by three sons, Raymond Hall, Manhattan, Kan., Warren Hall, Tarkio, and Edwin Hall, Stanford, Mont.; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Kemper, Encino, Calif.; a sister, Miss Mamie Fries, Los Angeles, Calif.; a brother, Lawrence Fries, Kansas city; and ten grandchildren.
