Reginald O. Ackerman, 81, of 323 Birchwood Blvd., Baldwinsville, died Thursday at his home.
A native of Port Elmsley, Canada, Mr. Ackerman resided most of his life in Ticonderoga before moving to Baldwinsville 27 years ago. He retired in 1975 as a safety engineer from the New York State Department of Labor. Mr. Ackerman was a graduate of Ticonderoga High School and Eastman Business College.
Mr. Ackerman was a member of the West Stockholm Methodist Church and a 50-year member of Mount Defiance Lodge 794, F&AM, in Ticonderoga. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, the former Gertrude DeRosia; a son, John G. of Ithaca; a daughter, Sherry Hourigan of Castleton-on-Hudson; and three grandchildren.
Private graveside services will be in Valley View Cemetery, Ticonderoga.
There will be no calling hours.
Contributions may be made to Hospice of Central New York or the Baldwinsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Traub Funeral Home, Central Square, has charge of arrangements.
