GED COM of R. Kerr (sent June 2006)Ancestral File Ver 4.18 has death date as 28 Apr 1660 and deathplace as Salem,Essex,MA. WFT Vol 8, says he died at sea in the Barbados on 10 Feb 1657/8. The following is given in WFT Vol 8: "Samuel)was a mariner an died at the age of 21 at sea bound for Barbados" it gives two sources which I have not confirmed: (a) Vineland History Magazine, Vol II (Am Pub AB) pp 108-113 (b) Perley's History of Salem.
A Porter Pedigree, Juliet Porter, 1907, has death date as 1660, says he was a mariner and owned a farm in Wenham, near Wenham Pond.

He owned property in Wenham, Massachusetts, near Wenham Pond. A mariner, he died on a tri p to Barbadoes in 1660. His widow married Thomas Woodbury-3 (Humphrey-2, John-1), by whom sh e had eight children. She died in Beverly, Massachusetts, January 2, 1688.

By Joseph W. Porter, of Burlington, Maine, 1878. Samuel Porter died 1660. His will, dated 10th, 12 mo., 1658, "being bound to the Barbadoes." "Imp. I give to my dearly beloved wife, Hannah Porter, the one-half of my farme during her life. Item, I give to my son, John Porter, the other half of my farme at Wenham; and after the death of my wife, the other half to returne unto him, more or less. I desire my ffather Porter, and my father-in-law, William Dodge, and Edmund Batter, to be my overseers." SAMUEL PORTER. Witnessed in the presence of us Edmund Batter, Sara Batter. Allowed by Court, 28th, 4 mo., 1660, at Salem. Inventory by Roger Conant and John Rayment. (Query ? Rayner) same date.
