Basha Mayhugh was born near Skidmore November 11, 1891 and died at the Bethesda Care Center in Tarkio, March 1988 at the age of 96 years four months.
She was the daughter of James Perry and Nancy Jane Atteberry Mayhugh and attended school in the Skidmore area.
On December 13, 1911. She was married to Thomas H Fries at a Methodist church in St. Joseph. They owned and operated the Dothan Store east of Fairfax for nine years. They also lived on a farm in the Irish Grove community before moving to town. She was a member of the Fairfax Baptist church.
Her husband died June 4, 1961.
Survivors are the five daughters, Lois Coats, Kansas City Kansas; Elsie L. Strough, Kansas City, MO; Marjorie L. Umbarger, Fairfax; Betty J. Riley Olathe, KS; Edith M. Hamilton, Kimberling City; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Fairfax Baptist church with Rev. Momberg in charge. Internment was in Pleasant Ridge Cemetary, Fairfax. Mrs. Dale Grubb was in charge of music and she accompanied Janice Pierce, soloist. Pallbearers were six grandsons.
