bullet  General Notes:

"I believe that Pleasant Ball was the son of James A. Ball and Rebecca Kingen. However, this was Rebecca's second husband. Rebecca born about 1806 in VA first married 1 Aug 1822 in Highland Co., OH Jonathan Taylor. I know almost nothing about him except that he and Rebecca had 3 children and he died soon after moving from OH to Hancock Co., IN (about 1833/1834). Of Rebecca's Taylor children, the eldest was Nancy Taylor who was born about 18221824. She married 19 Feb 1844 in Hancock Co., IN Henry Ball, but I'm reasonably certain that this was his second marriage. By his first wife he had 2 children (possibly 3) - Alfred Ball born about 1840 and Margaret J. Ball born about 1842. Henry and Nancy Ball had 8 children, but I have not had much success in tracking them. The major point, though, is that Pleasant was not one of these children. Instead, he was the son of Rebecca Kingen/Taylor and her second husband James A. Ball who married 29 Jan 1837. They had 3 children actually - Madison Ball, Pleasant Ball, and Rebecca J. Ball. James and Rebecca appear in the 1840 census of Harrison Township, Hancock Co., IN (the record includes both Taylor and Ball children). They were in Noblesville Township, Hamilton Co., IN in 1850 residing beside a person named Lucinda Ball who was age 65 b. VA and may have been James' mother. All three of Rebecca's Ball children, including Pleasant, appear in that census record. James and Rebecca were in Warren Township, Marion Co., IN in 1860, but all the children were gone. In 1870 James and Rebecca were in Buck Creek Township, Hancock Co., IN. In 1880 Rebecca was a widow living with her brother John Kingen and sister Ann in Hancock Co., IN. She died 14 Feb 1883 and was buried in the Curry's Chapel Cemetery, Hancock Co., IN as Rebecca Taylor Ball. As far as I can tell, Pleasant's brother Madison moved to KY. He seems to be in Henderson Co. in 1880 and in Hopkins Co. in 1900. I'm still working on Rebecca J., but I think she married Henry Carr. If so, she had 7 children, but only 3 of them were still living in 1910 - George Mc. Carr, Ed Dell Carr, and Franklin Valley Carr. They all resided in and around Noblesville, Hamilton Co., IN. George was a blacksmith, Ed was a shoemaker, and Franklin was a farmer......
Pleasant and Mariah married 31 Jan 1860 in Marion Co., IN. Census records show that they had 8 children, but they had 9 that I know of. Their 2nd child was named Belsory Ball. She was born about 28 Jan 1862 and died 4 Apr 1862. She is buried in the Scotton Cemetery, too. In addition to Capitolia and Belsory, they had Lewis, Mary J., Sarah L., Charles, Cresia M., Lula M., and Wesley A. Pleasant and Mariah were in Sugar Creek Twp., Hancock Co., IN in 1860, in Union Twp., Washington Co., MO in 1870, and Clark Twp., Johnson Co., IN in 1880."
