My great great great grandfather Thomas Hennessey was married to Margaret O'Dea and their 11 childlren were born in Newfoundland prior to the family moving to Boston, Mass in the early 1850s.
I have letters from a John V. O'Dea, the nephew of Margaret, to my great great grandfather. John V.O'Dea was a "Flour and Commission Merchant in St. John's, Newfoundland. I am keen to trace Margaret's ancestors.

Since posting my deatils I've found out from the 1870 census of Boston, Mass. that Margaret O'Dea was born in St. John's NF in 1825. It is very likely that she is the sister of Lisa Bowen's ancestor/s William O'Dea although at this stage her birth record has not been found as O'Dea. Possibliy it was recorded as Day. I am attempting to obtain her marriage certificate ( now that I know she was most likely also married in NF ) and hopefully it will confirm that her parents are the same as the William O'Dea that Lisa mentions.
Her children ( Hennesseys) were all born in NF between 1844 and 1862.
