Martha Perley

She has been described by one who knew her as a person
of medium size, with beautiful blue eyes, bright brown
hair, and the manners of a gentlewoman. During her
widowhood she lived with her daughter Mrs Hanna Preston,
in the house of Mr Rufus Phillips, which is now owned
by Mr. G. W. Davis, of Chester,NH, and her room is still
pointed out to the curious Porter visitors. At the
present time (1907) Mrs. Catherine M. Porter, North
Somerville, is probably the only person who remenmbers
Martha (Perley) Porter.

Martha married Lt Samuel Porter, son of Samuel Porter and Sarah, on 27 Nov 1770. (Lt Samuel Porter was born on 8 May 1746 in Boxford, Essex Co. MA and died on 8 May 1833 in Chester, Rockingham County, New Hampshire.)
